The 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards took place over the weekend. Richard Linklater’s 12-years-in-the-making drama Boyhood is took top prizes at the annual awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association named the film Best Motion Picture Drama and Linklater Best Director at Sunday nights star-studded event.
Meanwhile John Legend and Common took home the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for “Glory,” from Selma. In his acceptance, Legend says hes proud of the movie, which still resonates today. He added that he hopes people also find meaning in the song that goes beyond the film. Prince presented the award to Legend and Common, who are marking their first Golden Globe win with the event. In his acceptance, Common says being part of the Selma helped him rediscover his humanity, and see how the past and present are connected.

John and Common were up against Lorde, Lana Del Rey and Sia are up for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture category.
